Apple Custard
Ingredients
2 medium dessert apples (approximately 224g total weight)
150g pot ready-to-eat custard

- Saucepan
- Handheld blender or food processor

Method
- Wash, peel and dice the apple.
- Transfer to a saucepan, and add 30ml (2 tbsp) of water. Heat until boiling, then gently simmer for 5-10 minutes or until the apples are cooked.
- Blend together the apples and cooking water using a handheld blender or food processor.
- Warm the custard in a microwave or saucepan and stir into the apple purée.
- Serve warm. Always remember to check the temperature.
Tip
Cool any leftovers and transfer it to ice cube trays, and freeze to provide convenient portions for future use. There are many other fruits that you can add to your baby custard meal that are suitable as first choices for weaning: why not try pear, peach, prune or apricot?
